Have you filled your bucket today?
Holy Trinity students are up to the challenge this year as part of
a new program, Kindness Counts. Under the creative direction of
Suzi Hand, students will explore ways to not only pay it forward,
but to also focus on empathy and Christian values.
During the first morning assembly,
new principal, Desiree Lizana, read the book, Have You Filled a
Bucket Today?, by Carol McCloud, to an attentive group of
Kindergarten through Sixth graders. Students were introduced to
the concept that each of us has the ability to ‘fill each
other’s bucket with kind acts’, and in turn, it ‘fills’
our own bucket with positive feelings. Actual buckets are located
in each classroom and around the school to be “filled” with
strips of colored paper representing Acts of Kindness witnessed or
performed by students, faculty, staff, and parents. These Acts of
Kindness will be counted in November and integrated into HTCS’
Library Christmas Tree, bringing the Kindness Counts Campaign into
the Bay St. Louis community. As part of the program, Holy Trinity
will also participate in Anti-Bullying Awareness Month in October.
The Kindness Counts Campaign will take place during the first
semester of the school year. For more information, please contact
Suzi Hand at HTCS.
